Fifteen to twenty minutes. Élan asks twelve to eighteen questions and stops as soon as it has enough to write an honest portrait. You can pause and come back later — the conversation waits for you where you left off.
No person, in normal use. Your conversation is handled entirely by software: an automated server passes your messages to the AI and streams back the result. Nobody at Élan reads them — not to check, not to moderate.
Being honest about the limit: to run any online service, we technically hold the keys to the database where your data is stored (in the EU). We don’t read your transcripts, and nothing in the app surfaces them to us — but that’s a commitment about how we operate, not a physical impossibility. The full explanation is in our privacy policy.
No. To write your portrait, your conversation is processed by Anthropic’s AI. Under our agreement with Anthropic, your data is never used to train any model — theirs or anyone else’s. Your interview exists to produce your portrait, and nothing else.
In the app: Profile → Delete account, in two taps. Your account, your transcripts and your portrait are erased permanently and without delay — you don’t need to write to us. If you’d rather we handle it, email [email protected].
No. Élan is a tool for self-knowledge, not a medical tool. It makes no diagnosis and uses no clinical terms about you. If you’re going through a hard time, please talk to a health professional — Élan isn’t built for that, and it will say so.
One time. You pay once to unlock your full portrait — there is no subscription. The payment goes through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under their standard process. To request one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, and choose the Élan purchase.
